The 4th International Cyprus International Educational Research Congress has concluded at Final International University

The 4th International Cyprus International Educational Research Congress has concluded at Final International University. The Congress held sessions on the needs of the age of technology age and how to educate the people of the future.

Jointly organized by FIU and the Cyprus Educational Research Association, the theme of the event was 'New Social Structure Research in Education'. A total of 62 reports were contributed by researchers from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Turkey and other countries.

President of the Cyprus Educational Research Association, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemal Akkan Batman stated that, based on the requirements of the technology era educators should make efforts to determine the direction of production in industry and technology and equip our students with the necessary qualifications. The Rector of FIU, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Öztoprak meanwhile emphasized the importance of scientists coming together in international platforms and discussing the findings of educational research. Co-Chair Prof. Dr. Gülşen Musayeva Vefali of FIU expressed her pleasure at hosting the congress, and looked forward to research and interaction between universities and researchers increasing.

PROF. DR. VAMIK VOLKAN: OUR CHILDREN'S TECHNOLOGY AND THE SAME TIME TO BE HUMAN

The plenary speakers were Dr. Vamık Volkan and Mike Hayler from the University of Brighton. Volkan, who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize on several occasions talked via video link about the games of his childhood and the effects of technology on children and our lives in today's changing world. Volkan emphasized the importance of teaching technology to our children, and also stressed the importance of raising human beings and protecting our values. Hayler meanwhile discussed teacher education and the issues that need to be addressed in professional training.

The honorary award of the Kemal Yücel Research, which is given every year at the Congress was presented to  Çağrı Peköz and Ayşe Işık Gürşimşek for their ‘Investigation of Preschool Teachers' Multicultural Education Attitudes and Cultural Intelligence’.
